Approved Roadworthy Inspection Station
Buying or selling a car, caravan or trailer? Own a heavy vehicle or fleet of trucks? Our workshop is an AIS Approved Inspection Station. We can perform light vehicle, trailer, and heavy vehicle roadworthy inspections, as well as modification plates for both light and heavy vehicles.
If you are selling or purchasing a vehicle, you are required by Queensland Transport and Main Roads to provide a Roadworthy Certificate.
Our approved inspector follows a government issued comprehensive guideline to asses if a vehicle or trailer has any potentially serious or costly faults.
If defects are noted on your vehicle, you are provided with 2 weeks to rectify the defects prior to re-inspection. If your vehicle passes the roadworthy inspection, the certificate is valid for 2 months from date of issue OR 2,000KM’s, which ever come first.
Inspections take approximately 2 hours.
Heavy vehicles & trailers (over 4.5t):
Heavy vehicles are required to have a valid Certificate of Inspection (COI) every 12 months. Queensland Transport and Main Roads will send a reminder notice approx. 12 weeks prior.
If defects are noted on your heavy vehicle, you are provided with 2 weeks to rectify the defects prior to re-inspection.
- COI’s must not be done more than 30 days prior to the expiry date on your renewal notice.
- Lodge your COI with QLD transport on or before its expiry date as there are hefty fines for driving without a current COI.
- Book your truck in with us when your renewal notice arrives so you won’t miss that expiry date.
CL inspections for personalized transport:
Light vehicles (4.5t GVM or less), including taxis, limousines, hire services such as Uber, and school busses, are required by Queensland Transport and Main Roads to be inspected every 12 months and be issued with a Certificate of Inspection (COI).
CL type vehicle inspections must be conducted in accordance with the Code of Practice – Vehicle Inspection Guidelines (COP-VIG) for light vehicles. The COP-VIG will be updated to include additional checks that may need to be performed when inspecting CL type vehicles. These will include:
- distress lights (if fitted – taxis only)
- hail lights (if fitted – taxis only)
- taxi security cameras (if fitted – taxis only)
- fire extinguisher (if fitted – minibuses only)
Vehicles either currently registered or intending to be registered as a taxi, limousine and special purpose limousine, will be able to obtain a CL COI from an AIS from 1 October 2017.
